UC Makerspace currently operates inside Imagine Foundry, a colorful, hands-on discovery space created primarily for children and families.

Together, we offer birthday parties, family workshops, youth programs, homeschool activities, creative classes, and select private events that bring people together through making, playing, and exploring.

Whether you are celebrating a child’s big day, planning an activity for your homeschool group, or looking for a more creative way to spend an evening with friends, we will help you create an experience that feels personal, welcoming, and a little different from the usual event rental.

Here’s what we’re planning to unleash once the dust settles, the tools are plugged in, and the doors to creative chaos officially swing open:

Welding & Metalworking Bay

For those who think fire and molten metal make the best kind of art.

  • Fully equipped with MIG, TIG, and stick welders, plasma cutters, and anvil-smashing potential.
  • Safety gear available, because burned eyebrows are never in style.
  • Grinding, shaping, and metal bending tools for all your fabrication needs.
  • For metalheads (the fabrication kind, but rockers welcome too).

Woodshop & Woodworking

For sawdust lovers and folks who still think “measure twice, cut once” is optional.

  • Industrial-grade table saws, bandsaws, lathes, routers, and sanders.
  • Workbenches spacious enough for your next masterpiece or epic DIY fail.
  • Expert guidance available, especially if you’re confused by which end of the chisel to hold.
  • For furniture builders, carpenters, and casual whittlers.

3d Printing & Laser Lab

Because sometimes you just want a robot to do the hard work for you.

  • 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines.
  • Design software available (or bring your own files).
  • Laser engrave gifts, print missing board game pieces, or just make a thousand tiny cats for fun.
  • For furniture builders, carpenters, and casual whittlers.

Electronics & Robotics Lab

Where circuits, solder, and futuristic robots come to life (hopefully not Skynet).

  • Raspberry Pi, Arduino, soldering, and enough wires to make NASA jealous.
  • Multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools, because "It’s not working" isn’t a helpful error message.
  • Build, repair, or program robots, gadgets, or an auto laundry folder!
  • For engineers, hobbyists, and anyone who's ever voided a warranty.

Textiles & Crafting Studio

For those who know the power of a well-placed stitch (or a hot glue gun).

  • Sewing machines, embroidery machines, sergers, and vinyl cutters.
  • Perfect for cosplayers, leatherworkers, fiber artists, and people who can actually thread a needle on the first try.
  • Fabric, pattern-making tools, and a vinyl cutting station.
  • For engineers, hobbyists, and anyone who's ever voided a warranty.

  • Hand and power tools, and probably that wrench you can't find at home.

Once we’re funded, equipped, and have a roof over our heads (preferably one that doesn’t leak), you can expect:

  • Daily, monthly, and annual access – Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a 3 a.m. fabricator, we’ll be open when creativity strikes.

  • Classes, certifications, and project nights – Learn a skill, teach a skill, or just show off that weird contraption you’ve been working on in your garage.

  • Open bench space and fully equipped zones – Welding, woodworking, 3D printing, electronics, textiles, you name it, we’re building it.
